Beloved UK electronic-synergists The xx have confirmed they will return to Australia in January twenty-eighteen for three huge outdoor concerts along the east coast.
Following the release of their incredibly dream-like sophomore album I See You and their wildly-celebrated headline slot at Splendour In The Grass last month, the British trio Romy Madley Croft (guitar, vocals), Oliver Sim (bass, vocals) and Jamie Smith (beats, MPC, production) will return to open arms in Melbourne, Sydney + Brisbane come January.
They may have created a winning formula sonically – with an experimental soundscape that is lush and expansive, moody and stirring; ‘Say Something Loving‘ ‘I Dare You‘ and ‘On Hold‘ to name a few. But the band also know how to put on a line-up – inviting some huge company along for the gorgeous outdoor shows.
Special guests include Kelela, US singer/songwriter and firecracker infusing soul, house, electro, R&B and hip hop – flawlessly. Her v-anticipated debut studio album Take Me Apart is slated for release this October, check out the first single ‘LMK‘. Also joining party will be LA DJ and rapper Earl Sweatshirt. Known for his time in Tyler, The Creator’s hip hop collective Odd Future, delivering a varied palette of emotions in debut studio album Doris (2013) and his follow-up I Don’t Like Shit, I Don’t Go Outside (2015).
To top off the legendary line-up, The xx have also partnered with PLUS1 so that $1 from every ticket purchased will go towards local LGBT+ programs in each city of the tour. Visit plus1.org for more information on the organisation.
