Having just returned from NYC where they put the final touches on their impending third album and captured some outtakes to document the making of ‘Million Man’ – we’re now at the beginning of an exciting new chapter for the band. The production standards have been raised with the help from an unlikely collaboration with Run The Jewels producers Wilder Zoby and Little Shalimar, who the band met at 2013’s Laneway Festival. In December last year the New York producer brothers returned to Australia to The Rubens’ newly created recording studio – a WWII communications bunker in Sydney’s outskirts – where they lent their chunky sound to The Rubens’ delicious melodies.
And now The Rubens are off again – kicking things into gear with two v-special shows in New Zealand before returning to Australia for three east coast shows. It’s your chance to hear the band preview new music and honour all the faves from their sophomore album Hoops – before venturing to the United States and Europe.
Luckily for you – we have one double pass to giveaway to The Rubens’ super spesh show at the ever iconic Sydney Opera House Saturday, 3 March. Competition closes Sunday, 25 February.
