NY darling and absolute shredder, Margaret Glaspy is currently in town on a debut Aussie tour and so naturally, she stepped into the triple j studios this morning to lay down an original and a cover for Like A Version.
It was a pretty surprising choice for the crooning singer/songwriter but not far from truth when you remember the incredible wordsmith and lyricist she is. Stripping back the ‘banger’ formerly delivered via DJ Snake and featuring Justin Bieber, ‘Let Me Love You’ was a smokey tribute from Glaspy.
The love for Glaspy follows the release of the twenty-seven-year-old’s self-produced, fiercely real, raw and repeated debut record Emotions and Math (2016). Featuring a catalogue of refreshingly honest, guitar-driven pop songs, Emotions and Math is not simply just the name of Margaret Glaspy’s debut album, rather an expression that drills right to the heart of the singer/songwriter’s proper introduction, a mission statement both artistic and personal.
She’s in town to play a handful of intimate headline shows in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne as well as an appearance at Golden Plains festival and A Festival Called Panama in the forested mountain ranges of Tasmania. See you there.
