I OH YOU is pleased to announce Jack River will take to the road this September for a couple of headline shows in Sydney and Melbourne on the Fool’s Gold Tour in celebration of the cracking single of the same name. Jack River will light up the stages of the Lansdowne Hotel in Sydney on Thursday 7 and Melbourne’s Northcote Social Club on Saturday 9 September. Tickets are on sale now!

In late June, I OH YOU revealed Jack River’s brand new single ‘Fool’s Gold’. Moving into alt pop territory with a song filled with glitter and grit, the single premiered via Linda Marigliano’s Good Nights on triple j and has since taken out the #1 most played spot at triple j (week commencing Jul 24), it’s being spun on US and German radio, has been in the top 10 of the AIR Independent Single Chart – currently at #4 – and is just about to tick over half a million streams.

‘Fool’s Gold’ was written from a place of rebellion, with the production carved to match that intense feeling of striving to break free of constraints. Strong and stark, the track has that ‘never look back’ feeling built into it.

“I was alone in New York, chasing shiny things. The verses were spinning around my head and I would get purposefully lost so I could keep walking along, figuring out the song,” River says. “I was annoyed at myself for falling for the same things over again without them giving back. But I also knew how human it was to feel like that, and how I’d probably come up against this feeling again and again. I wanted to write a song for that emotion – the relentless humanity in thinking something is gold when it just isn’t – the hope and sadness and repetition, but the sweetness of truth once you find it. It’s also kinda about realising that your fool’s gold is often someone else’s gold and feeling momentarily lonely, but okay with it.”

We are thrilled to announce that Jack River will be playing headline shows in September in Sydney and Melbourne, her first since the hugely successful Electric Lady Live shows – all-female band nights featuring Alex Lahey, Ali Barter, Gretta Ray, Bec Sandridge, Jack River, Body Type and Rackett.

Supporting both shows will be Melbourne musician Didirri who has started turning heads with his impressive song writing, perhaps best represented in his track ‘Blind You’ and new single ‘Jude’.

These shows will be peppered between studio visits as she continues to work on her much anticipated debut album (planned for 2018).
