The Rubens will launch forthcoming second album Hoops with a whopping 22-date Australian tour, their first since 2013’s sold-out Never Be the Same run.
Kicking off in WA on September 16, the tour – with Melbourne alt-soul rockers Saskwatch and Central Coast folksters Winterbourne supporting on most dates – includes metro and regional shows, as well as appearances at the Red Earth and Yours & Owls festivals.
Hoops, released August 7, is the follow-up to the band’s platinum-certified self-titled debut album, which debuted at #3 on the ARIA chart.
“We put more of a focus on how the songs would work in a live setting for this album,” frontman Sam Margin explains. “We wanted to write songs that would be fun for us to play live as well as fun for our audience to listen and move to.”
