Strokes guitarist and solo artist Albert Hammond Jr. has today revealed he will be sticking around for two extra headline shows following his set at Splendour In The Grass in July. Melbourne and Sydney are in for a huge treat with Hammond today revealing he will continue down the East Coast for shows at the Corner Hotel (Tuesday 24 July) and Factory Theatre (Wednesday 25 July).
The announcement follows the March release of Hammond’s fourth album, Francis Trouble. Learning only recently that he had a twin brother who was never born, Hammond drew inspiration from imagining Francis as his energetic alter ego. Unsurprising giving his background as a rhythm guitarist in one of garage rock’s hugest bands, the record is replete with tight, jangly guitars and driving tempos. Bright and punchy, it is Hammond at his absolute catchiest.
No stranger to the Splendour stage, the musician played the festival in 2016 with his fellow Strokes pals, their first Aussie show as a band since 2010. He last toured solo in Feb of the same year. This run of shows will see him joined by Sydney duo CLEWS, aka sisters Lily and Grace Richardson. Frontier members presale starts as of 2pm, Wednesday 30 May here.
