The annual Vanda & Young Songwriting Competition has returned for 2016 and revealed an elite shortlist of finalists. Spearheaded by APRA AMCOS and Nordoff-Robbins Music Therapy Australia, the shortlist is comprised of just 90 of the 3934 songs submitted.
Among the chosen songwriters are City Calm Down, Client Liaison, Emma Louise, Gordi and The Creases who will compete for first prize – a whopping $50,000 courtesy of APRA and Alberts Music, second prize is $10,000 thanks to AMPAL and third prize is $5,000 from AEG Ogden. That’s enough money to buy a whole lot of inspo.
With more than 2412 applicants from 20 different countries, ranging from 11-82 years, the coveted competition raises the songwriter stakes like never before.
The three prize winners will be announced October 27. In the meantime, enjoy this new playlist.
