Reigning from across the globe, UK artist Roo Panes has announced that he will make his Australian debut this March. The international talent will be here as a part of the Fringe and Port Fairy Folk Festival, followed by his very own solo headline shows in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane.
Panes songwriting is jam-packed with influences from his hometown of Wimborne and the natural beauty of Dorset’s open spaces and natural beauty. Combining his passion for poetry and his talent for creating moving melodies, Panes has developed his own organic, honest and soulful sound. In just two years, he has racked up more than 90 million plays on Spotify and over a million YouTube views.
Two years after the release of his debut album Little Giant, which saw critical acclaim and an alliance with producer Rupert Coulson (Mika, Julia Stone, Oasis), Panes dropped his follow-up record Paperweights (2016) which explores ‘the notion of freedom, risk, vulnerability, moving on and letting go, lifting the paperweight’. The full-length release features lush harmonies, Panes’ 12-stringed guitar, cello and mandolins that emphasize it’s peaceful nature. Tracks including ‘Stay With Me‘, ‘The Original‘, ‘Lullaby Love‘ and title track ‘Paperweights‘ have already scored some serious attention.
Supporting Panes on the solo leg of his East Coast Tour is Australian-born, Anabelle Kay. Kay has released her debut EP I Think I’m Lost, My Love which highlights her ability to move from a haunting ballad to a folk infused tune that denounces past lovers.
Don’t miss this dynamic musical duo live in action. East Coast tour tickets are on sale Wednesday, January 18.
