Sylvan Esso – ‘PARAD(w/m)E’

Sylvan Esso have surprised us with ‘PARAD(w/m)E‘, their first new track since last year’s phenomenal power pop album What Now.

Once again, the American duo have captured us with their quirky combination of lolly-sweet pop and cynical lyrics. Over a minimal soundscape of staccato synths and a snappy beat, singer Amelia Meath’s harmonised voice sings of the current state of the world with hard truths like “Gas station is running dry” and “Now it’s always summer time.” A ridiculously thick bass sound brings the groove to the tune as swirling synth intermissions get us dancing to the end of the world.

You can catch this live for the first time when Sylvan Esso hit our shores for Laneway Festival next month and a bunch of sideshows. Prepare to parade.
