If the new single ‘Die Young’ is anything to go by, listeners should brace themselves for a quirky escapade into controlled chaos and ecstasy.
Amelia Meath’s familiar warm voice is back, crooning with charming nihilism about her plans to die young being interrupted by falling in love. The sound has grown since their 2014 self-titled release however, as Nick Sanborn weaves dark synths through his classic playful percussion to create a groove-filled nighttime brand of pop. The track gently builds to a euphoric exploration of mortality, as Amelia’s voice blissfully cries over the intricate soundscape, unclear whether this newfound love is a welcome distraction from the death fixation.
Created in the midst of America’s tumultuous 2016, both ‘Die Young’ and the upcoming album What Now will undoubtedly be a welcome distraction for us. You can pre-order it here.
