Melbourne duo Gypsy & The Cat have dropped the video clip to ‘I Just Wanna Be Somebody Else’ which serves as the follow-up to part one of their music video series filmed in Tokyo, Japan.
In an interview, the pair explained the concept behind the clip.
”The video highlights escapism in all of our quotidian days. We all at some point want someone else’s car or house or hair or job or life; it’s a very normal mental process in the everyday.”
“It all starts at Lotte Kasai driving range just outside Tokyo with the cat head man becoming the central protagonist. At the golf range, we felt it was important to show how people are so close to each other and out for the same thing, but at the same time they are like islands that won’t ever touch or speak. I’d like to thank the people of Tokyo for having us and being a part of the songs story.”
The single is lifted off their upcoming LP Virtual Islands,
slated to be released in August.
