Gengahr – ‘Carrion’

UK indie quartet Gengahr have gifted us with dark glimpse into their first new material since their debut album A Dream Outside.

‘Carrion’ continues the Brit Rocker’s brand of spacey, quirky, indie rock that they established with singles including ‘She’s A Witch‘ and ‘Heroine‘, but this time it expands on their unique combination of psychedelic textures and low-fi minimalism by adding a new sense of sonic intensity.

A driven beat and strong bass line propel the song forward with refreshing velocity as Felix Bushe’s charmingly faltering vocals take on a new sense of urgency before the track flourishes into a sweetly haunting falsetto chorus. The real highlight, however, is the unexpected progression of groove and thrash in the middle of the song that doubles as a punch in the guts and a call to dance.

We’re hoping ‘Carrion’ is a sign the next album is on the way, watch this space.
