The thrash party is back baby – DZ Deathrays have finally unleashed their first new track in nearly a year and it’s exactly the mind-blowing mess we’ve been waiting for.
The Bundaberg duo established their addictive blend of filthy heavy noise, angst-tinged pop melodies and effortlessly cool lyrics with previous singles ‘Pollyanna‘ and ‘Blood On My Leather‘ and debut full length LP Black Rat. Their latest offering ‘Shred For Summer‘ is no different.
The explosive track begins with a spacey intro before Shane Parson’s raspy scream slams you headfirst into a blistering riff, complete thanks to Simon Ridley’s heart-shattering drums. With magic that could only be the work of the devil, the chaotic verses give way to a melodic chorus, thick with layers of irresistibly juicy guitar goodness.
As Parsons explains, it’s a bone-breaking ode to loud guitars. “For a long time I’ve wanted to write a song that is just about my love of playing guitar, this is the closest thing we have made to that”.
Turn it up til your ears bleed!
