‘Miracle’ is the fourth single to be shared from their v awaited record Love Is Dead and it was premiered alongside the announcement that the Scottish trio will return to Australia to play the inaugural Splendour In The Grass this July.
‘Miracle’ was produced by Steve Mac (Ed Sheeran – ‘Shape Of You’) and it’s “one of the most direct” songs on the album explains Mayberrry.
“It definitely indicates a lot of the imagery that’s going to be on the record lyrically, I think… We were thinking maybe we’d put it on an EP or try and write something for someone else and then we realised halfway through that we’d just written a CHVRCHES song on steroids.”
On working with the mega-producer, the band says; “‘Miracle’ is the only song from Love Is Dead that we didn’t write and record in the States, instead producing it in London with Steve Mac. Steve is such an intuitive writer with such a killer ear for melody and working with him felt very easy and natural. He makes space for everyone in the room and really pushes people to try things and go outside of their comfort zone, in a good way.”
For the first time in their career, Love Is Dead sees CHVRCHES welcome outside influences, not only working with Steve Mac, but also the 2017 and 2018 GRAMMY Producer Of The Year Greg Kurstin, who co-produced nine tracks.
