Aurora – ‘Queendom’ (Harp Version)

Norwegian artist AURORA has just dropped a stunning acoustic version of track ‘Queendom‘, her bright, ethereal new single.  The stripped back arrangement offers a different take on the synth laden original, the singer’s first new release since her 2016 debut, All My Demons Greeting Me As A Friend .

Weaving fantasy and an otherworldy charm into her music, AURORA aka 21 year old Aurora Akneses released her debut LP at the tender age of 19. ‘Queendom’ has a sweeping lightness to it, offering a more uplifting vibe than previous hits ‘Runaway’ and ‘Running with The Wolves’. Featuring the singer’s trademark, soaring vocals, this pared back version sees sweet, delicate harp sounds offset by resonant cello. The minimal arrangement allows the pop prodigy’s incredible, image laden lyrics to take centre stage.  She paints a poetic, alternate universe; “The sea waves are my evening gown / And the sun on my head is my crown / I made this Queendom on my own / And all the mountains are my throne.”

Following a huge 2016 that saw All My Demons Greeting Me As A Friend score a feature album spotlight on triple j, AURORA wowed Australian audiences playing at Laneway Festival the following year. With ‘Queendom’ already notching up over 2,7 million hits on Spotify since its April release, it’s clear fans are extremely keen for the release of album number 2.
