Modest Mouse have announced two Bluesfest sideshows, confirming headline dates at Sydney’s Enmore Theatre on Monday 21 March and Melbourne’s Margaret Court Arena on Wednesday 23 March.
It’s the US rockers’ first Australian tour since 2009, in support of last year’s Strangers to Ourselves album. The follow-up to 2007’s We Were Dead Before the Ship Even Sank features appearances by James Mercer (The Shins), Jim Fairchild (Grandaddy) and Dann Gallucci (The Cold War Kids). Home to radio faves ‘Lampshades On Fire’ and ‘Coyotes’, it debuted at #3 on the US charts upon its release and #15 in Australia.
Formed in 1993 in Issaquah, Washington, the now-six-piece hit the mainstream in 2004 with Good News For People Who Love Bad News, propelled by the global smash ‘Float On’. Going on to sell more than 1.5 million copies, it earned the band two Grammy nominations.
