Missy Higgins Announces Long-Awaited Album Launch Tour

Melbourne singer / songwriter / treasure Missy Higgins has just announced an expansive Australian tour to celebrate the release of her highly anticipated fifth album Solastalgia.

The special tour will see Higgins perform new and old material in Brisbane, Toowoomba, Woolongong, Sydney, Canberra, Adelaide and Melbourne this May. Get ready to sing along with the award winning artist to classics like ‘The Sound Of White‘, ‘Scar‘ and ‘Everyone’s Waiting‘, whilst being cast under the spell of her mesmerising new material.

“This album is really different from anything I’ve done before, I think people will be really surprised, but I think the songs will fit nicely alongside my old material, too. There are a lot of female harmonies in the new material so I’m glad we’re gonna have four amazing women on stage belting them out!”

Joining Missy will be beloved Canowindra singer-songwriter Gordi, who released her debut album Reservoir, innovatively blending sparse electronica and folk to create a collection of soft, sensitive songs. Written and recorded between Wisconsin, Reykjavik, Los Angeles, New York and Sydney, the 12-tracker is a fascinating mix of organic and synthetic sounds. From melancholy piano chords and whispered counting to textured samples, she will build the perfect space ahead of Missy.

Today also marks the release of Higgins’ Mediterranean-dinner-soiree inspired video to match her previously revealed spritely pop track ‘Futon Couch‘.

“I think this was the most fun I’ve had filming a music video. I never thought I’d catch myself doing choreographed dancing in one of my film clips but if there’s any song I’ll ever do it for, it’s ‘Futon Couch’! I’m excited for people to see this, it’s very different for me!”

Solastalgia will be Missy Higgins’ first original album in six years, and it’s set to drop on on May 4. In the meantime, make sure to snag yourself a ticket to one of her intimate shows.

Frontier Members pre-sale begins Monday, 5 March, 12noon AEDT. General public on sale Wednesday, 7 March, 12noon local time.
