Listen up lovers – it’s a New Year and it’s New Kylie, which means Australia’s princess of pop is officially back with a brand new single.
It’s a new direction for Kylie Minogue that channels a raw and intimate energy whilst maintaining those flawless pop sensibilities and songwriting prowess.
The single sets the mood for the new album, which was predominantly recorded in Nashville – a completely foreign city for Kylie, but one she fell in love with immediately. And the result is worldly mixture of pop gold.
“You’ve got the lyrical edge, that country feel, mixed with some sampling of the voice and electronic elements, so it does what it says on the label. And I love that it’s called ‘Dancing’, it’s immediately accessible and seemingly so obvious, but there’s depth within the song,” says Kylie.
She describes the 12-tracker as her most personal project to date – co-writing every song on Golden.
From sessions in Nashville working alongside two keys writers, one was British-born songwriter Steve McEwan (whose credits include huge country hits for Keith Urban, Kenny Chesney and Carrie Underwood), and the other was Amy Wadge, another Brit (best known for her mega-selling work with Ed Sheeran), to creating Golden with African-German producer Sky Adams and a list of contributors including Jesse Frasure, Eg White, Jon Green, Biff Stannard, Samuel Dixon, Danny Shah and Lindsay Rimes, and there’s a duet with English singer Jack Savoretti – it’s taken a grand time to make what is going to be a grand album.
You can pre-order Golden now, which will be officially released on Friday, 6 April worldwide via BMG and Mushroom Group label Liberator Music in Australia and New Zealand.
