Why Julia Jacklin Is Your New Favourite Artist

She kicked-off 2016 as a relatively unknown artist. Since then, it’s been a career-pivoting six months for the Blue Mountains-born guitarist and singer/songwriter, Julia Jacklin. She’s performed at the world’s biggest showcase festivals including SXSW and The Great Escape, as well as playing a string of sold-out Australian shows in May.

Along the way, she’s been turning heads, raising eyebrows and winning hearts and for good reason. Her sound is a swirling mixture of alt-country and indie-folk, with pulsating honesty, opulent vocals and the sweetest of wit.

Today, the twenty-nothing-year-old has confirmed she’s joining the coveted Aus/NZ record label Liberation and signed a killer publishing deal with Mushroom Music. Impressively, she’s also signed internationally with Transgressive Records (UK/Europe) and Polyvinyl Records (North America).

ICYMI, her single ‘Pool Party‘ is a certified banger and there’s plenty more where that came from, with the label confirming word of a debut album dropping later in the year. In the meantime, you can catch her on tour when she hits the east coast in late July or Queenscliff Music Festival. Then she’s splitting for a hot second, heading OS again to perform at eight major festivals and support slots with Chicago’s rising indie collective, Whitney, and NZ/Aus favourite, Marlon Williams. Big vibes are forming and enormous things are happening, you don’t want snooze on these shows.

Welcome to the fam, legend.
