It’s been more than 10 years since British powerhouse Hot Chip released their first studio album and let’s be honest, we’ve been captivated by their electro-pop anthems and we’ve become a victim of the dancefloor allure ever since. Like mosquitoes to a light source, their music is magnetic and all-consuming serving as a time-stamp from an era, a time or just a night.
It was revealed just a few weeks ago that the electronic outfit is headlining the inaugural Sugar Mountain festival, leading a colossal line-up which includes Dirty Three, Courtney Barnett, Kelela, Julio Bashmore and so many more.
Today it’s announced that Hot Chip will also be playing a string of side shows surrounding their Sugar Mountain gig. Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth and Syndey-siders get ready. Warming-up the stage pre-Hot Chip in Brisbane and Perth will be synth-pop lady Empress Of, who’s making her Aussie debut at SM, with our very own Touch Sensitive taking opening honours in Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth. This is going to be one bright light source night.
