This week, Midnight Oil were playing their eight-hundred-and-sixty-forth* show on their epic The Great Circle World Tour at Melbourne’s Sidney Myer Music Bowl. During the encore set, guitarist and keyboardist Jim Moginie slipped and fell on stage. Moginie managed to finish the song but was helped off stage for assessment, forcing the band to cut their set slightly short.
After a delay, the group returned to the stage to end the set with an acoustic version of One Country. The band later released a statement outlining that they were unsure of the seriousness of Moginie’s injuries, but he was in good spirits. Today, Midnight Oil announced that the “scheduled performance on Saturday 11th of November at The Domain of “The Great Circle 2017” World Tour will proceed as planned despite the serious injury suffered onstage.”
So the great news is that Midnight Oil will continue their Australian tour! The not so great news is that Jim Moginie has completely cooked his hammy – so he’ll be taking a seat on stage for the remaining shows. Just like Dave Grohl. Legends!
