DZ Deathrays Are Launching Their New Album At A Series Of Pop-Up Bars

Legend duo DZ Deathrays have announced some Bloody Lovely Pop-Up Bars to launch the release of their forthcoming record Bloody Lovely out this Friday, 2 February.

It’s a bit of a chicken vs. egg situa but the sonic theme of the new album actually followed on from the initial theme of being at a bar.

“In the studio we were trying to get that feeling of a fun dive bar with our music playing in the background while people shoot pool and talk shit,” explains Shane Parsons (guitar/vocals). “We have always wanted to open our own bar at some point and I guess this is a good way to test the waters and also launch the new record with a bang.”

Opening for one night only at Brisbane’s Greaser Bar on Friday 2, Sydney’s Ramblin’ Rascal Tavern on Saturday 3 and Melbourne’s The Beaufort on Sunday 4 February, the Bloody Lovely Pop-Up Bars are a chance for fans to be real life bar flies in DZ’s bar dreams. FYI – it will be free entry, walk ups only and first in best dressed and both members Shane Parsons and Simon Ridley will be at each of the bars hanging out, playing a DJ set and generally ensuring that Bloody Lovely is as divey and debaucherous as they planned.

As well as exclusive merchandise, including a limited edition translucent pink pressing of Bloody Lovely on vinyl, DZ and Young Henrys have once again joined forces to re-brew their collaborative Pills ‘N’ Thrills Pilsner at the Bloody Lovely Pop-Up Bars.

“Getting to release our own beer a couple of years ago along with a big help from the Young Henrys team was so awesome!”, explains Simon Ridley (drums). “It’s a session Pilsner and an Aussie take on a traditional Czech recipe, that reminded us of our time spent touring in Europe blended with a bit of flavour from home. We are so glad we get to do a rebrew of the beer and have people hooking in to it at the album launch Pop-Up bar.”

The DZ Deathrays Bloody Lovely Czech Pilsner will first be pouring at the Bloody Lovely Pop-Up Bars. Following the events there will be a handful of kegs pouring at your favourite local pubs and bars around the country, including the Young Henrys Brewery Tasting Bar in Newtown.

Kicking off at 7pm in Brissy and 6pm in Sydney and Melbourne – make sure you get in early and save your mate a seat at the bar.
