Brissy thrash-party duo DZ Deathrays have treated us to a scorching new single ‘Total Meltdown’, but we’re in meltdown over the news that their third album Bloody Lovely is set to drop on February 8, and to celebrate the announcement they’re throwing a free show in Melbourne this Saturday!
‘Total Meltdown’ gives us no time to take a breath and digest this news, instead the fuzzy pop headbanger launches us straight into the duo’s perfect blend of huge guitars, crashing drums and yearning melodies. Shane Parson’s lyrics tread the line between playful and dark, as the chorus hooks us in with the line “I’m dead, there’s nothing going on in my head”. After just one listen though, this addictive mind-melter is all that’s going on in our heads.
Following on from punk gut-puncher ‘Bad Influence‘, ‘Total Meltdown’ is the second taste of DZ’s hugely-anticipated third album Bloody Lovely. Named such because, according to Parsons, the album is “brutal and beautiful, and super Aussie”, Bloody Lovely takes the blistering party rock of their first two albums Bloodstreams and Black Rat and turns it up to 11.
To celebrate this onslaught of announcements, DZ Deathrays are playing a free show at Cherry Bar this Saturday, 4 November. First in best dressed, see you there!
