Sydney trio DMA’S have just dropped a new clip for ‘Do I Need You Now?’ , the latest single off their sophomore record For Now. The video’s release coincided with the start of their sold out national tour, which kicked off Friday 1 June in Brisbane.
Directed by Jake Jelicich, the clip perfectly captures the mood of ‘Do I Need You Now?’, a sweeping, introspective track. Stark black and white and filmed under looming bridges and overpasses, the video is understated, letting singer Tommy O’Dell’s pensive lyrics take the forefront as he sings into the lens (“Do I need you now, did I need you then / I don’t know now but I’ll figure it out”). The track is reminiscent of the ballad-esque, reflective vibes of ‘In the Air‘ and a contrast to the punchy defiance of ‘Break Me‘ and ‘For Now’.
The follow up to 2016’s Hills End, For Now is DMA’S most sophisticated release to date, garnering the love of fans both here and overseas. Hugely popular with brit-pop lovers in the UK, the band have just returned from a largely sold out string of shows across England. Joining them on their completely sold out Aussie tour is Brisbane dream pop artist Hatchie, whose own EP tour kicks off in July.
