Band Of Skulls have dropped a brand new single ‘Killer’ which comes after the announcement that By Default, their fourth studio album will be released May 27.
The new record was made after a the English band decided to take a step back from extensive world-wide touring and bunker into song-writing mode which resulted in setting-up camp in a Southampton Baptist Church-turned-makeshift HQ. During jam sessions, they even received visits from the vicar, bringing tea and biscuits on his trolley.
“It’s definitely a new era,” says guitarist and vocalist Russell Marsden. “The first three records were like a trilogy, a piece of work in of themselves. We wanted to do those things, and we did them all. We took a breath, took a look at what we’d done, and started from scratch again.”
“We went back to Square One,” says drummer of the band Matt Hayward.
By Default was then produced by Gil Norton (Pixies, Foo Fighters, Patti Smith) and the band promise this record is the the sharpest sound the trio have created yet.
By Default will be released through Liberator Music/ BMG Recordings. Pre-order here.
