Having absolutely conquered 2017 with the release of their incredibly powerful debut album Reclaim Australia – indigenous hip-hop duo A.B. Original have been added to the already stacked Sugar Mountain 2018 line-up.
Consisting of (Adam) Briggs and Trials (Daniel Rankine) who respectively come from the Yorta Yorta and Ngarrindjeri tribes, their debut 12-tracker is a politically explosive album featuring guests collabs from Dan Sultan, Dr G. Yunupingu and Archie Roach. The epic release saw them sit at at #1 on the iTunes chart and scoop up the Australian Music Prize (AMP); triple j’s Album of the Year; ARIA’s Best Urban Album and Best Independent Release; and Best Aboriginal Act and Best Hip Hop Album at The Age Awards.
With seven weeks to go and with 30+ international and Aussie artists on the bill, A.B. Original will launch into another huge year by rounding-out Sugar Mountain 2018, where he’ll play alongside Melbourne’s Cut Copy, NY rapper Joey Bada$$ and rising Chicago R&B fire-cracker Jamila Woods. With the news of the addition comes that unfortunate word that UK grime MC J Hus will no longer be able to perform at SM18 as scheduled.
“I’m truly disappointed that I won’t be able to appear at Sugar Mountain due to circumstances out of my control. Big thanks to all my Australian fans for their love and support… will be working hard to reschedule dates as soon as possible.”
