The newest wizard to enter your ear holes and demand a body wave is Melbourne-based producer James Crooks.
Laying down an expansive blend of electronic-pop and dance percussion, ‘Not Going Away‘ goes in deep with a strong hook and undertones of tribal beats. Co-written with and featuring the delicate vocal prowess of indie-pop singer/songwriter Kate Martin, the duo have created a truly lush alternative-pop tune.
“I first met Kate through a close friend of mine, and was instantly a fan. Originally we organised to record a topline together, however once the session was done, I showed her a different track which she immediately connected with. Something clicked between us creatively and ‘Not Going Away’ was born. I remember us laughing at how organic everything was!” Explains Crooks.
Along with the new single comes a new partnership, this time with seminal label Liberation, alongside D.D Dumbo, Julia Jacklin, The Creases and Mansionair. Having previously released ‘Naturally‘ (feat. Paige IV) in late 2015, Crooks has continued to produce, record, and tour under various monikers with some of the most established in the industry, including RÜFÜS, HEALTH, SAFIA, Thelma Plum and Tigertown – 2017 is going to be a yuge year for James Crooks. Standby for the next installment.
