Norweigian/New Zealand duo Anna Of The North are set to release their debut album Lovers in September, and along with it, they will play their first ever headline shows in Australia this August.
The powerful pop duo of Anna Lotterud and Brady Daniell-Smith introduced us to their minimalist electronic witchcraft in 2014 with breakthrough single ‘Sway’. With a slew of magical singles since, Anna Of The North are more than prepared to release their debut album.
Heart-shattering lead single ‘Lovers’ is our first glimpse at the anticipated album. With warm, rich synths sparely scattered throughout the track, the soundscape is the perfect undercurrent for Anna’s voice, which weaves its way through the track with sweet and mature clarity. Anna describes the break-up track as being about “that point when you feel alone and you’re reaching out but they’re not reaching back.” The sadness, guilt and joy of heartbreak are scattered throughout the 10 tracks on the album.
Anna and Brady met in Melbourne, following Anna’s spontaneous decision to leave her assured life in Oslo behind. Now, for the first time, they will return to Australia to headline two shows in Sydney and Melbourne. The duo will also perform at the Sunshine Coast’s Maroochy Music & Visual Arts Festival.
Tickets are available now. Lovers comes out on Friday, 8 September.
