Today it gives us great pleasure to reveal the 2nd single from Newcastle’s Brightness in the form of a tight little number called ‘Talk To Me’ – the video for which was world premiered via Stereogum last night. Along with this news, we’re thrilled to announce that Brightness’ debut album Teething will be released on the 30th of June and that he’ll be performing two intimate album launch shows in Sydney and Melbourne in July.

Having turned heads with his debut single ‘Oblivion’, the artist has already been championed by local radio station FBi Radio who placed the song on high rotation and named him their ‘Independent Artist of the Week’. It wasn’t long before ears began to prick up the world over; as The Fader premiered the Mclean Stephenson directed video for the song. Despite still being very fresh on the scene, the reaction to ‘Oblivion’ and album track ‘Waltz’ has led to Brightness being invited to share stages with acts like Middle Kids, Cloud Control & Red Riders’ reunion show.

As word slowly but surely begins to spread about Brightness, we’re very happy to present the world with his new single ‘Talk To Me’ – a track that shows another layer of his debut LP Teething (out 30th of June). When talking about ‘Talk To Me’, Alex Knight (aka Brightness) explains that he, “wanted Talk To Me to carry a similar sentiment to REM’s ‘Everybody Hurts’, but more ‘Everybody’s Green’. It’s a message to younger people to not be ashamed of their rawness.” The song itself carries an element of honestly & intimacy that Knight puts down to “drinking a bit” and “singing very quietly”. Hit the link to hear ‘Talk To Me’ and watch the accompanying video – directed by Mclean Stephenson.

To align with the release of his debut album Teething, we’re thrilled to announce that Brightness will be hitting the Hume in July to play two headline album shows in Sydney and Melbourne that will give punters their first chance to see a bunch of album songs performed live for the first time.
