Sugar Mountain Festival Unleash Stranger Things-Themed Sensory Restaurant

It’s back – Sugar Mountain‘s acclaimed immersive restaurant experiment.

Exploring the relationship between sight, sound, taste, smell and touch, Sensory is a multi-dimensional, tactile experience, where different disciplines – food, sound, and visuals  – come together in a 60 minute, set menu narrative.

Sensory’s soundtrack is being exclusively created by transcendental masters S U R V I V E. The Texan-wizards behind the original music to Netflix pop culture phenomenon ‘Stranger Things‘.

Inspired by IDM and horror scores, S U R V I V E will take Sensory to a whole new level with a fully original, hour-long score.

New York-based, Miami-raised Daniel Arsham joins Sensory as its visual collaborator, designing the restaurant’s physical environment. Owning the the line between art, architecture and performance, he’s worked with Hedi Slimane on Dior Homme retail spaces, legendary modern dance choreographer Merce Cunningham, Pharrell Williams and exhibited at esteemed galleries such as PS1 in New York and The Athens Biennale in Greece.

And the food. Chef Peter Gunn the visionary behind Collingwood restaurant IDES in 2015, will helm the kitchen. Having thrown down plates in iconic Melbourne kitchens such as Attica, Ezards, and The Royal Mail, Gunn is beyond ready for the challenge.

“When I opened IDES I put as much thought into the music, the interiors and the lighting as I did the food because for me, all of those different aspects are vital in creating a great dining experience. I’m really looking forward to working with Daniel Arsham and the guys from S U R V I V E to take this idea to a whole new level at Sugar Mountain.”

Sensory takes place within a transformed indoor space at Victorian College of the Arts on the day of Sugar Mountain festival, with multiple sittings throughout the day.
