It’s hard to believe she’s only 19, but this Norwegian singer/songwriter is on the cusp of releasing her debut full-length, All My Demons Greeting Me as a Friend and it’s about time you got the feels for this one.
AURORA‘s sound is full of anthemic synths, driving vocals and melancholic lyrics delivered in an unlikely upbeat pulse.
“I don’t want to write sad songs only to make people sad,” she says, “I’ll end up with lots of depressed fans.”
“That’s not my goal at all,” she continues. “But I want people to know that it’s not dangerous to cry or think of something sad for a while. It’s easier to think about it through a song, which can also be beautiful while being sad. It’s like taking medicine with a teaspoon of sugar. It’s important to have some hope.”
The first single lifted from the album is ‘Conqueror’ – a percussive tale overflowing with emotional turmoil yet it’s one of her favourite songs to perform live.
The accompanying video is a no different. A conceptual masterpiece which depicts AURORA unleashing the shackles of loneliness to conquer strength and freedom – it’s pretty spine-tingly stuff. Stayed tuned with this girl, big vibes ahead.
All My Demons Greeting Me as a Friend is out March 11 via Liberator Music/Glassnote Records, pre-order here.
