The brassy new single with thunderous percussion and brooding guitar riffs places alt-J in that particularly unique math-rock / alt-J soundscape.
“We started writing ‘In Cold Blood’ in our Leeds days and finished it last year in London,” say the band. “The brass was recorded at Abbey Road; the keyboards were done on a Casiotone that cost £1.05 on eBay; and no-one is quite sure where the key change came from.”
‘In Cold Blood’ follows the release of the their return corker ‘3WWW‘, proving that RELAXER, which was recorded all over London with producer Charlie Andrew will potentially be the band’s most dynamic release to date.
RELAXER is out Friday 2 June. Pre-order it here.
