Hippo Campus Announces Debut Album + Reveal New Clip

Minnesota dudes and producers of some of the prettiest sun-drenched, indie-rock jangles, Hippo Campus, have dropped word of their very-anticipated debut album, landmark.

The record follows the young band’s acclaimed Hallocine EPs, which feature standout tunes ‘Suicide Saturday‘ and ‘South‘. The debut full-length pin-drops many landmarks of sorts, but a true mark of the band’s coming of age, as the record explores an intimate world of universal contrasting concepts ranging from love and loss, family and friendship and hope and self-doubt.

“The album became a collision of two versions of ourselves, each part trying to have control of everything. The first, a suffering, arched-backed wild man rubbing two sticks together to make a fire in a barren cave. The other, carefree in reflection, drenched in summer and whiskey with its writing hand working flawlessly. One side of the coin seeking honesty, real reflection, therapy. The other a cynical child, utilising irony to tear down the ship we had worked so hard to build.”

landmark was written and recorded over the past 12 months and features 13 brand new tracks for the Hippo Campus catalogue. Produced by BJ Burton (Bon Iver and Francis & The Lights) the album encapsulates an experimental element that sees them dipping into new sonic discovery.

On top of the exciting album announcement comes the unveiling of Hippo Campus’s brand new and v colourful video for their single ‘Boyish’, directed by Hyper House.
