“D.D Dumbo’s new record is rich and virtuosic without ever losing his confident grip on a vision that’s deeply tasteful and musical.”

— Stella Mozgawa, Warpaint

It’s been three years since Castlemaine prodigy D.D Dumbo (the alias of Oliver Hugh Perry) released his self-recorded EP Tropical Oceans. Today, Perry, a wizard of execution and vision shares his hugely-anticipated debut record Utopia Defeated

Featuring previously released seduction tracks ‘Satan’ and ‘Walrus’, the two singles were merely particles of a simmering experiment at large, fusing blues roots with infectious electronica with hints of dance-pop.

Utopia Defeated saw Perry team up with engineer/producer Fabian Prynn in order to craft the record piece-by-piece. The project ultimately places his production at the highest level possible. With the warmth of acoustic instrumentals and the chill of the varying electronics, there is no area left untouched. This record is utopian.
